Program Overview

Bachelor of Arts in Criminology Program of Study

The Bachelor of Arts in Criminology program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field of criminology. The program consists of a series of courses that cover various aspects of criminology, including theories, research methods, and policy analysis.

Freshman Year - Fall Semester (15 Hours)

• English Composition I | 3 hours
• College Algebra or Quantitative Reasoning | 3 hours
• American National Government | 3 hours
• History core | 3 hours
• Intro to Sociology (grade of at least C) | 3 hours

Freshman Year - Spring Semester (16 Hours)

• English Composition II | 3 hours
• BIO w/ lab | 4 hours
• General Psychology | 3 hours
• English Core | 3 hours
• Fine Art: Art of Music Appreciation | 3 hours

Sophomore Year - Fall Semester (16 Hours)

• Statistics or other math above College Algebra | 3 hours
• Foreign Language I | 3 hours
• Introduction to Criminal Justice or Free elective | 3 hours
• Social Science elective - SOC, PSY, PS, CO, AN, EC, or GR | 3 hours
• PSY or CHE w/ lab | 3 hours

Sophomore Year - Spring Semester (15 Hours)

• Philosophy core | 3 hours
• Foreign Language II | 3 hours
• Humanities elective | 3 hours
• Humanities elective | 3 hours
• Public Speaking | 3 hours

Transfer Credits

Students may transfer up to 62 hours from a community college.

Humanities and Social Sciences Electives

• Humanities - electives must cover two different areas: AAS, EN, HI, PHI, REL.
• Social Sciences - electives must cover four disciplines: AN, GR, PS, SO, PSY, CRM, CO, EC - No EPY. Max of two in each discipline, except for EC and CO where only one is allowed.

Junior Year - Fall Semester (16 Hours)

Minimum Grade Requirements

A minimum grade of C is required in all CRM and SO courses.
