Project Overview

The "3+1+1" project is a joint training program between NUS, the NUS Suzhou Research Institute, and the Beijing University of Technology's School of Mechanical Engineering. The program is designed for undergraduate students majoring in mechanical engineering and related fields.

Program Structure

• The program consists of 3 years of undergraduate study at the Beijing University of Technology.
• 1 year of bridging courses at the NUS Suzhou Research Institute.
• 1 year of master's study at NUS.
• Students who meet the admission requirements of NUS will be eligible to pursue their master's degree at NUS.

Program Details

• ME Professional Program: The program is open to students majoring in mechanical engineering and related fields (automatic control, electrical engineering, etc.).
• Program Duration: The program will commence in the fall of 2024 at the NUS Suzhou Research Institute.
• Program Fees:
  • Tuition fees for the NUS Suzhou Research Institute: 80,000 CNY (approximately 11,600 USD) per year.
  • Accommodation fees: 2,200 CNY (approximately 320 USD) per year.
  • Master's program tuition fees: The fees will be based on the standard rates published on the NUS official website (reference: 45,000 SGD for the Faculty of Science and 44,552-55,868 SGD for the Faculty of Engineering in 2023).
• Program Language: English.

Admission Requirements

• Eligibility: The program is open to undergraduate students in their third year, majoring in mechanical engineering and related fields.
• GPA Requirements:
  • ME: A minimum GPA of 82% or higher for all courses completed in the first five semesters.
• Credit Requirements: Students must have completed all required courses in the first three years and have a minimum of four types of general education courses.
• English Language Requirements:
  • ME: A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL score of 85.
  • No minimum score requirements for individual sections of the IELTS or TOEFL exams.

Application Procedure

• Application Deadline: March 26, 2024.
• Application Process:
  • Submit an application through the university's online system.
  • Upload required documents, including:
    • Complete transcripts for the first five semesters (in English and Chinese).
    • Weighted average GPA transcript.
    • IELTS or TOEFL score report (or English proficiency certificate if IELTS or TOEFL scores are not available).
• Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be required to participate in an online interview (or offline interview if possible) in May or June 2024.

Final Admission Decision

The final admission decision will be made by the NUS Suzhou Research Institute, and successful candidates will be notified directly.
