Program Overview

Learn to Skate Level 1

The Learn to Skate Level 1 program is a 4-session introduction to ice skating, with each session including 30 minutes of instruction. No previous skate experience is required.

Program Details

• The program focuses on introductory skills, including:
  • Sit and stand on ice
  • Forward movement
  • Backward movement
  • Stops
• All participants are required to wear a helmet (a bicycle helmet is appropriate).
• Warm clothes, gloves, and water bottles are highly encouraged.
• Skate rentals are available.

Session Information

• Sessions are held at the Ice Level of the Whittemore Center Arena at Key Auto Group Complex, 128 Main St, Durham, NH.
• Additional information regarding program drop-off and pick-up will be sent via email the day before lessons begin by program staff.

Registration and Refund Policy

• Campus Recreation does not offer refunds for Learn to Skate, including missed lessons.
• The program may cancel if there is low enrollment. Notification and a full refund will be provided if cancellation occurs.

  • Grades: Gr 1-6
  • Cost: $129
  • Registration Close Date: February 1

Additional Programs

• Campus Recreation also offers a program for skaters who have completed Level 1: Youth Skate: Level 2. However, this course is currently unavailable.
