Program Overview

The Acupuncture program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of acupuncture principles and practices. The program aims to equip students with the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to establish a diagnosis, prescribe acupuncture points, and master acupuncture treatment with its indications and contraindications.

Target Audience

The program is intended for:

• French medical doctors (general practitioners, specialists such as neurologists, psychiatrists, geriatricians)
• Doctors of dental surgery
• Foreign medical doctors holding a diploma that allows them to practice medicine in their country or the country where the diploma was obtained
• Medical interns who can enroll in the program only if their internship and thesis will be completed before December 31, 2025

Program Objectives

The objective of this formation is the comprehension and acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge, enabling the establishment of a diagnosis from a clinical examination, prescription of acupuncture points, and mastery of acupuncture treatment with its indications and contraindications.

Program Structure

Duration

The program lasts 2 years.

Teaching Methods

The teaching is organized in the form of 2-day seminars (Friday and Saturday) spread from September to May, approximately once a month.

• In the 1st year, there are 10 seminars.
• In the 2nd year, there are 9 seminars. The practical training includes 80 hours of clinical internships in a hospital setting or medical office with a certified acupuncture master for each year.

• Theoretical courses: 100 hours
• Practical and tutorial work: 16 hours
• Specific teachings: 21 hours
• Practical training: 80 hours of clinical internships

2nd Year

• Theoretical courses: 90 hours
• Practical and tutorial work: 12 hours
• Specific teachings: 24 hours
• Practical training: 80 hours of clinical internships

1. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Principles
   • Diagnosis: the four times of examination and the 8 diagnostic rules
   • Diagnostic methods by pulses, tongue, and Chinese typology
   • Points: physiology, clinical indications
   • Physiopathological mechanisms
   • Evolutive modes of diseases
   • Physiopathology of qi, blood, organic liquids
   • Principles of acupuncture point prescription and needle manipulation, legislation
   • Conduct of preventive treatment by acupuncture
   • Principles of prescription of Chinese dietetics and phytotherapy
   • Conduct of preventive and curative treatment
   • Body practices: principles and indications of Chinese massage and Qi Gong exercises, simple applications
2. Semiology
   • From semiology to clinical pictures of Chinese medicine
   • Semiologie of irregular meridians
   • Approach to the method of meridian balance
3. Pathologies and Their Treatments
   • Diseases of the locomotor system
   • Respiratory diseases
   • Digestive diseases
   • Dermatological diseases
   • Psychological and mental diseases
   • Febrile diseases
   • Women's diseases (gynecology and obstetrics)
   • Children's diseases
   • Cardiovascular diseases
   • Endocrine and immune diseases
   • Neurological diseases
   • Urinary and andrological diseases
   • ORL and ophthalmological diseases
   • Addictions
   • Follow-up of patients with cancer
   • Accompaniment of severe or chronic diseases and the contributions of Chinese medicine to improving the quality of life of patients
4. Introduction to Research Methodology

Assessment and Evaluation

• A probatory exam for admission to the 1st year (for doctors not in possession of the DIU initiation in acupuncture)
• Written test for each year with a required average of 10/20 and a minimum of 6/20 per subject
• Validation of practical stages through a roadmap presented by the student and signed by the student and the master of stage

Admission Criteria

• Authorization of registration is indispensable and must be attached to the pre-registration file.
• The application must include a CV, a letter of motivation, a copy of the medical doctor diploma, and a document certifying registration with the medical council.
• Deposit of applications: from April 5 to August 30, 2025, inclusive.

Capacité and Dates

• Capacité d'accueil limited to 25 candidates
• Start of teachings: September 2025
• End of teachings: May 2026 (indicative and subject to modification)

Post-Graduation

• Level of exit: Bac+11
• Professional outlets: Doctors who have obtained their acupuncture diploma are recognized by the Council of the Order of Doctors as Acupuncturists. They can then practice this discipline in private practice or in specialized consultations (Hospital - Dispensary).
