Program Overview

Master Didactique des Sciences Parcours Didactique des Sciences Expérimentales et des Mathématiques

The Master Didactique des Sciences Parcours Didactique des Sciences Expérimentales et des Mathématiques is a research-based program that combines the disciplines of exact and experimental sciences (Mathematics, Physical and Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Earth and Universe Sciences), their didactics, and epistemology.

Objectives

The program aims to develop or consolidate students' theoretical and practical knowledge on the teaching, learning, and dissemination of sciences. The originality of this program lies in its central focus on the relationships between the didactics of sciences, scientific mediation, and epistemology, taking into account all levels of education from kindergarten to higher education, as well as the contexts of science dissemination.

Program Structure

The program is co-accredited by the University of Lyon 1, the ENS de Lyon, and the University of Montpellier. It is based on dynamic and recognized multidisciplinary research teams at the national and international levels.

Teaching Team

The teaching team consists of teacher-researchers and researchers from the reference disciplines, didacticians of these disciplines, epistemologists, philosophers, and specialists in scientific and technical mediation.

Career Prospects

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Engage in epistemological and didactic reflection on the construction of scientific knowledge
  • Question the illusion of transparency of this knowledge
  • Adapt teaching situations and dissemination of this knowledge according to the evolution of contemporary society
  • Conduct a research project supported by research literature and present it orally and in writing
  • Develop engineering projects for research, teaching, training, or scientific mediation
  • Collaborate with actors trained in human and social sciences based on disciplinary, epistemological, and didactic knowledge
  • Develop expertise in analyzing supports and situations of science mediation
  • Intervene as a researcher in the programming and evaluation of scientific culture operations and science-society debates

Admission

To apply, students must submit an online application on the Faculty of Science website. For students already enrolled at the University of Montpellier, they can use the university's ENT platform.
