Master of Science in Biomedical Data Science and AI
The Master of Science in Biomedical Data Science and AI program is designed to prepare students for success in the burgeoning field of biomedical data science. This program sets students up for success in an evolving, growing sector, from investigating complex health care challenges to contributing to the age of precision medicine.
Program Overview
The program is offered by the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Applicants should have some background in quantitative and/or computational disciplines. Students typically arrive with undergraduate degrees in areas such as computer science, engineering, biotechnology, mathematics, chemistry, or physics. Relevant quantitative coursework and computer programming experience will be evaluated.
Application Requirements
To apply for the program, students must submit:
- Completed application
- Current curriculum vitae or resume
- Two letters of recommendation from people who can directly assess the ability to conduct independent research
- Personal statement clearly explaining the motivation for attaining this degree and desired outcomes from this degree program
- GRE scores may be submitted, but are not generally required for admission
- Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate programs attended
The program directors will review and potentially consider exceptions to these admission requirements on a case-by-case basis consistent with the policies of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

Applications open in mid-August for enrollment in the following terms:

Successful applicants will receive access to an online enrollment portal upon admission.
International Applicants
Graduates from foreign colleges or universities who have completed an academic program equivalent to an American bachelor's degree are eligible to apply. Admissions requirements include:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or testing equivalent with a score of 100 or higher, or equivalent
- Transcripts from colleges and universities outside the United States and Canada must be evaluated and translated by World Education Services or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)
Tuition and Financial Aid
The Biomedical Data Science and AI program requires a total of 30 credits to be completed for graduation. The current tuition is $55,200; however, tuition costs may change annually. Accepted applicants who are U.S. citizens or eligible residents and are interested in pursuing federal loans must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). As a direct lending institution, the school also offers Federal Stafford Loans to students. In addition, all students can consider a monthly payment plan option through the provider.
