The Vascular Diagnostic and Intervention Fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital

Overview

The Vascular Diagnostic and Intervention Fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital is a one-year program that trains fellows in comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for all non-coronary vascular diseases. Working under the auspices of highly regarded faculty, fellows obtain in-depth experience in catheter-based interventions for vascular disease, as well as non-invasive testing, including a basic understanding of the performance and interpretation of these tests. Fellows will be prepared to sit for the Society for Vascular Medicine certification examination upon completion of the fellowship.


Curriculum

The curriculum includes training in:


  • Peripheral arterial, carotid, renal, aortic, mesenteric, and aneurysmal disorders
  • Acute and chronic venous thromboembolic disease
  • Hypercoagulability
  • Uncommon causes of vascular diseases
  • Limb edema

During the fellowship, trainees will also pursue clinical research, present their findings at regional or national symposia, and submit their research to peer-reviewed journals.


Admission Criteria

Qualified applicants will have:


  • Completed three years of clinical cardiology fellowship training
  • Completed one year of interventional cardiology training
  • Training in clinical cardiology and percutaneous coronary procedures
  • Experience in decision making regarding optimal treatment, including surgical and medical alternatives

  • Copy of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification

  • Procedure log detailing procedural training done and signed by the Cath Lab Director
