Introduction to the Training Program in Neuroscience

The T32 training grant supports early-stage Neuroscience students in their first and/or second year of the PhD program. The goal of this Training Program is to provide rigorous, broad-based, individualized and multidisciplinary training to early-stage predoctoral students in basic, translational and clinical neuroscience research, thereby enhancing critical skillsets necessary for high-quality doctoral dissertation research and productive and impactful careers in the science-related workforce.

Program Structure

This is accomplished through an integrated program of:

• Core courses, including a unique Core course with direct patient contact
  • Comprehensive training in quantitative reasoning
  • Experimental design and statistical analyses
• Grant-writing workshops and professional development
• Symposia, seminars and scientific theme-based "Clubs"
• Laboratory rotations and initiation of dissertation research and mentoring

Program Administration

Appointment to this T32 is by the T32 Program Director and Steering Committee. This training grant is jointly sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
