The U.S. in WWII A Mayborn Learning Abroad Experience
The U.S. in WWII A Mayborn Learning Abroad Experience is a unique educational program that offers participants the opportunity to retrace the steps of the American Army in WWII. The program is led by David A. Smith, a senior lecturer in American history at Baylor University, specializing in military and naval history.
Program Description
The program takes participants on an enlightening voyage from England to Normandy, where they will walk on the D-Day Beaches and see the German defenses that American soldiers had to overcome. They will also visit the villages where American soldiers fought and the cities they liberated, including Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, and the Battle of the Bulge.

- June 4: Travel Day
- June 5: Arrive London
- June 6: London
- June 7: Arrive Bournemouth
- June 8: Arrive Bayeux
- June 9: Bayeux
- June 10: Bayeux
- June 11: Arrive Paris
- June 12: Arrive Reims
- June 13: Arrive Wiltz
- June 14: Arrive Arnhem
- June 15: Arrive Amsterdam
- June 16: Amsterdam
- June 17: Departure Day
Tour Pricing
The tour pricing is as follows:
- Minimum 20 to 24 people in twin & double room: $4,840.00
- Minimum 15 to 19 people in twin & double room: $5,295.00
- Minimum 10 to 14 people in twin & double room: $5,945.00
- Single room supplement: $1,895.00 per person
Deposits & Payments
A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 per person is due by March 15, 2025. The remaining balance will be automatically scheduled for March 29, 2026.
Accommodations
The program includes accommodations in London, Bournemouth, Bayeux, Paris, Reims, Wiltz, Arnhem, and Amsterdam.
Meals
The program includes breakfasts and some dinners, including a welcome dinner and a farewell dinner.
Transportation
The program includes private motor coach transportation and ferry transfers.
Entrances
The program includes entrances to various historical sites, including the Churchill War Rooms, Imperial War Museum, HMS Belfast, and the American Cemetery.
Land Arrangements Package Price
The land arrangements package price is as follows:
- Minimum 20 to 29 participants: $4,250.00 per person, based on sharing a twin/double room
- Minimum 15 to 19 participants: $4,900.00 per person, based on sharing a twin/double room
- Single room supplement: $1,350.00 per person
Deposit & Payments
A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 per person is due by March 15, 2026. The remaining balance will be automatically scheduled for March 29, 2026.
Cancellations & Refunds
Monies will be refunded upon receipt of cancellation in writing, with less the following cancellation penalties:
- February 17 to March 21, 2025: $1,800.00 per person
- After March 22, 2025: Non-refundable
Insurance
The program recommends purchasing travel insurance to protect against unexpected circumstances that may disrupt travel plans.
