Program Overview
The Institute for Aviation Sciences offers a four-year undergraduate program specifically designed for students pursuing careers in aviation. Upon completion, each Aviation Sciences major will receive a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Sciences degree in one of three concentrations.
Concentrations
The three concentrations available are:
- Professional Pilot - Airplane
- Professional Pilot - Helicopter
- Aircraft Dispatch
Professional Pilot - Airplane Concentration
Students selecting this concentration will achieve flying qualifications to the Commercial Pilot level, including an instrument rating. Additionally, they will obtain a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) license and have the option to choose between a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI-I) license or a multiengine rating.
Professional Pilot - Helicopter Concentration
Students in this concentration will achieve the Commercial Pilot level, including an instrument rating, along with Certified Flight Instructor and Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument Ratings. They will also receive Night-Vision Goggle Training.
Aircraft Dispatch Concentration
Entry into the Aircraft Dispatch concentration requires departmental approval. Students in this concentration must obtain their FAA Dispatch Certification externally.
