Program Overview
Apparel Merchandising Program
The Apparel Merchandising program at Baylor University provides students with the opportunity to develop knowledge of retail functions, merchandising principles, forecasting trends, and textile selection and evaluation. Graduates are prepared for professional careers in merchandise buying, retail management, visual merchandising, planning and allocation, digital retailing, and product development.
Overview
The program is led by Dr. Andrew Meyer, Division Leader, and offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes courses in fashion theory, apparel design, textile science, and retail buying.
Degree Requirements
To graduate with a degree in Apparel Merchandising, students must complete a minimum of 124 hours, including:
- General Education Requirements (44 hours)
- Health and Human Sciences BS Core requirements
- Apparel Merchandising major requirements (76 hours)
- A residence requirement of 60 hours
- A Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.00 "C" overall

Internship Requirement
An approved, 240-hour, on-site internship is required following the completion of all prerequisite apparel design courses.
Grade Requirements
A grade of "C" or better is required in all Human Sciences and Design courses (ADM, CFS, HSD, ID, or NUTR).
