Master of Environmental Studies, M.E.S. Program Details ## Master of Environmental Studies, M.E.S. Program Details ## Overview of the Master of Environmental Studies, M.E.S. Program The Master of Environmental Studies (M.E.S.) program is designed for students who have initially been admitted to the Ph.D. program but, with faculty approval, opt to transfer to the M.E.S. degree. This program is tailored to provide advanced knowledge in environmental science, preparing students for careers in research, policy, and practice. ### Admissions Requirements - Students are not directly admitted to the M.E.S. program. - Admission is possible for students initially enrolled in the Ph.D. program who, with the approval of the faculty and Graduate Program Director (GPD), choose to transfer to the M.E.S. degree. ### Requirements for the Master of Environmental Studies (M.E.S.) - A minimum of thirty semester hours is required for completion of the degree. - The curriculum includes: ### Course Requirements - Lecture Courses: A minimum of 12 hours of ENV graduate courses and 6 hours of graduate electives. - Seminars: ENV 5102, Current Advances in Environmental Science, or an alternative approved seminar (2 hours). - Additional Elective Hours: 10 hours that may be selected from research, laboratory techniques, or classroom offerings. ### Important Policies - Graduate school policy states that maintaining a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 is required; failure to do so results in immediate probationary status. - Students on probation are ineligible for stipend support and tuition waivers. ### Academic Calendar and Support - The program operates on the university's academic calendar. - Students have access to academic support services, including advising and career development resources.
