Program Overview
DNP Nurse Practitioner Programs
The DNP Nurse Practitioner programs at Baylor University offer a 75-89 credit hour curriculum in various concentrations, including Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Overview
Applicants who possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or a Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) without APRN Certification are eligible to apply for the BSN to DNP program. Applicants who have earned an MSN, hold APRN Certification, and are not seeking a new role are eligible to apply for the Post-Master's Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. Full-time and part-time degree plans are available, and the program offers students opportunities to participate in global missions.
Admissions Requirements
Admission Requirements for the BSN to DNP in Nurse Practitioner:
- Completed BSN with a nursing GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Experience:
- AGACNP: 1-year full-time experience as a registered nurse.
- FNP: 1-year full-time experience as a registered nurse.
- NNP: 1-year experience as a registered nurse in a level III NICU.
- PNP: 1-year full-time experience as a registered nurse in a pediatric setting.
- PMH: 1 year full-time experience as a registered nurse.
- Unencumbered and current RN license.
- Three letters of recommendation from an immediate supervisor, a peer registered nurse, and an MSN/APP, DNP, PhD prepared nurse or MD/DO.
- An acceptable writing sample using the applicant's own words.
- No foreign language requirement.
Admission Requirements for Post-Master's DNP in Nurse Practitioner without an APRN Role Change:
- Master's degree with APRN certification.
- Unencumbered APRN license.
- Cumulative Master's GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Documentation of successful completion of a health-related graduate-level statistics course prior to matriculation in the program.
- Acceptable writing sample in the applicant's own words.
- Three letters of recommendation from an immediate supervisor, a peer registered nurse, and an MSN/APP, DNP, or PhD prepared nurse or MD/DO.
- No foreign language requirement.
