CyberCorpsÆ Scholarship for Service Program

The CyberCorpsÆ Scholarship for Service program is designed for University students pursuing a degree in computer science and engineering with a cybersecurity minor. The program provides scholarship opportunities for up to two years for undergraduate students and up to three years for students in the accelerated B.S./M.S. program.

Student Pathways

To be eligible for the program, students must:

• Be enrolled in a B.S. in computer science and engineering with a cybersecurity (technical) minor
• Complete six credits of interdisciplinary courses to gain knowledge about contemporary cybersecurity challenges and public policy essentials
• Participate in a summer internship in the cybersecurity area with an eligible federal agency
• Meet with the director of Academic Success twice every semester to discuss progress and concerns

Program Requirements

Admitted students are required to:

• Attend SFS-provided opportunities, such as job fairs, seminars, and workshops
• Participate in regular cohort workshops, guest-speaker events, student research symposiums, and a capstone research project
• Engage in the Nevada Cyber Club and cyber competitions to develop team-building skills and prepare for real-life cyber incidents
• Participate in middle/high school visits and create workshops to generate interest in cybersecurity among the next generation of students

Academic Support

Students in the program will receive guidance and support from:

• The director of Academic Success, who will meet with students twice every semester
• Faculty advisors, who will meet with students after their progress report meeting with the director of Academic Success
• Project team members, who will accompany students to SFS-provided opportunities
