Program Overview
This program is part of the NevadaTeach initiative and allows students to earn two degrees: the Bachelor of Science in Education/Secondary Education and the Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology. Upon completion, students are prepared to teach in secondary education, pursue graduate school, or enter an immediate career in a STEM field.
What to Expect
Students in this program will gain a foundational background in microbiology and immunology, with an emphasis on human and animal infectious diseases and immunology. They will have the opportunity to participate in research that is paving the way for the treatment of diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's, and muscular dystrophy, as well as autoimmune disorders and transplantation.

The NevadaTeach program offers several areas of emphasis, including:
- NevadaTeach minor: Designed to provide students with an opportunity to explore teaching at the secondary level as a career option while completing a major in their chosen STEM content area.
- Special Education minor: Offered to undergraduates majoring in Secondary Education and/or pursuing a teaching license in secondary education, or as additional credits upon completion of the requirements for an undergraduate degree in an established discipline.
- Post-baccalaureate program in secondary education: Enables students who have completed an undergraduate degree in a field other than education to become licensed to teach in Nevada.
