MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts

The MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts is a low-residency program that offers students the opportunity to explore and express their creativity in a variety of artistic mediums.

Program Structure

The program is a five-semester program that includes a combination of online and on-campus coursework. The on-campus portion of the program takes place during the summer residency, which begins in August.

Application Requirements and Fees

To apply to the program, students must submit the following materials:

• A portfolio of 15-20 images or media files
• An inventory list of the contents of the portfolio
• An artist's statement
• A CV
• Two confidential letters of recommendation
• Official transcripts showing a posted bachelor's degree with an earned 3.0 grade point average

Portfolio

The portfolio should include 15-20 images or media files that demonstrate the student's artistic abilities and style. The images should be saved as .jpg, .png, or .gif files and should be under 2MB each. The optimal image size is 1280 x 1280 pixels at 72 dpi. If the student's work is best shown via video or audio, they may submit up to 20 minutes of video or 10 minutes of audio.

Inventory List

The inventory list should include a numbered list of the contents of the portfolio, including the title, medium, dimensions, and date completed for each piece. The list should also include a thumbnail image of each piece.

Artist's Statement

The artist's statement should be 1-2 pages long and should contextualize the student's current studio activity and describe how their participation in the program will activate their work's ability to intersect the world in a significant way.

CV

The CV should be 1-3 pages long and should list the student's current and recent employment, artistic involvement, and related skills and experience.

Letters of Recommendation

The letters of recommendation should come from a college-level instructor, professional mentor, or colleague who can speak to the student's artistic goals and academic competencies.

Transcripts

Official transcripts are required and should show a posted bachelor's degree with an earned 3.0 grade point average.

• Room and board (double occupancy): $659
• Program fee: $9,705 ($808.75 per credit)
• Total cost: $10,364

The program offers merit-based scholarships to incoming students, which are awarded based on the submitted portfolio.
