Program Overview
Introduction to NevadaFIT
NevadaFIT is a required, one-credit intensive academic program for all first-year students that begins one week prior to the fall semester. The program is designed to help students successfully transition from high school to college and provides realistic exposure to the style, pace, intensity, and rigor of college courses.
Program Details
- NevadaFIT is a college-based camp for academic success.
- The program starts with a formal Check-in, where students pick up their materials and move into their housing early (if living on campus).
- The program dates are required for students to attend.
- New Student Check-in day and time will be assigned based on dorm assignment or major.
TransferFIT Information
- TransferFIT is an optional, three-credit course designed to meet the unique needs of transfer students.
- The course helps ease the transition into the University of Nevada, Reno while supporting students in building a community with their peers.
- The first in-person week of the course coincides with NevadaFIT, but then continues through the fall semester either in-person or online.
- Spots are limited, and students must fill out an application to be enrolled in the course.
- TransferFIT is required for all transfer students living in the Transfer LLC.
Mentor Information
- Upperclassmen can apply for the opportunity to work for the NevadaFIT program.
- There are eleven college-based camps, including an exploratory camp for those who are undecided, for first-year students and an additional camp for transfer students.
- Available positions include Pack Mentor, TransferFIT Mentor, FIT Central Specialist, or Digital Wolf Pack Initiative Student Employee.
- Prior attendance at FIT as a student is not required to be hired as a mentor.
