Program Overview


Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program requires 51 credit hours for completion, with 30 credit hours that must be taken at the University to graduate. The exact timeline to finish the program depends on the number of courses waived and the number of courses taken in each semester.


Core Courses (21 credits)

The following core courses are required unless waived:


  • Statistics for Decision Making (BADM 700): Build familiarity with statistical analysis, gain experience working with varied data types, and learn how to use statistical analysis to drive decision making.
  • Production and Operations Management (BADM 701): Study the problems surrounding manufacturing goods and services, quality control, and materials management.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis (BADM 710): Gain an understanding of financial accounting in capital markets and learn how to analyze and use basic financial statements.
  • Management and Organizational Science (BADM 720): Study individual and group behavior in organizations and analyze organizational design and communication strategies.
  • Economics of the Firm (BADM 730): Study economic analysis and gain an understanding of how markets work and how market activities impact operation and profitability.
  • Financial Management (BADM 741): Gain familiarity with capital budgeting, capital structure, dividend policy, risk analysis, and money valuation.
  • Marketing Management (BADM 760): Review decision-making procedures in market management, from product development and promotion to distribution and marketing environments.

Breadth Courses (18 Credits)

  • Information and Communications Technology in Organizations (BADM 750) (Required): Overview of strategic value creation through ICT and managing end-user involvement in ICT.
  • Changing Environments of Business (BADM 772) (Required): Study the legal, ethical, cultural, economic, political, and global environment, and approaches to continual monitoring and managing complex interactions between business and its changing environments.

Integration (3 Credits) (Required)

  • Strategic Management for Executives (BADM 781): Study strategy and policy in the business enterprise, the strategic management process, and systematic analysis of complex organization-wide issues.

Areas of Emphasis (9 Credits)

In consultation with the MBA director, students may choose nine elective credits that have an industry or functional emphasis. Current areas of emphasis include:


  • Accounting
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Finance
  • Information technology
  • Renewable energy
  • Sports management Additional areas of emphasis may be developed in consultation with the director of MBA.

MBA Program Waiver Policy

Individual MBA core course requirements may be waived by permission of the MBA Office if students have completed an equivalent course within the last five years with a grade of at least B at an AACSB-accredited or equivalent institution. Applications for core course waiver must be completed during a student's first year in the program.
