Supply Chain Management (SC)

The Supply Chain Management program offers various courses that focus on the quantitative and qualitative aspects of supply chain management. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of supply chain management, including descriptive and prescriptive analytics, supply chain performance metrics, and optimization techniques.

Course Descriptions

• SC 671 - Supply Chain Analytics: This course focuses on the quantitative side of Supply Chain Management (SCM) by applying both Descriptive and Prescriptive Analytics to SCM business scenarios.
  • Credits: 4
  • Prerequisite(s): ADMN 410 with a minimum grade of C- and ADMN 510 with a minimum grade of C-.
  • Mutual Exclusion: No credit for students who have taken DS 671.
  • Grade Mode: Letter Grading
• SC 680 - Global Supply Chain Management: This course explores various aspects of today's global supply chains, covering five integrated learning modules: Networks, Technology & People, Supply & Demand Planning, Sourcing & Supplier Management, Operations & Logistics, and Margin Optimization & Customer Management.

• SC 775 - Supply Chain Management Project Experience: This course is a required course in the undergraduate Supply Chain Management (SCM) option, where students work in groups on projects identified by sponsoring organizations to deliver value to a real-world client.

Course Learning Outcomes

• SC 671 - Supply Chain Analytics:
  • Demonstrate proficiency in core Business Analytics methodologies related to Descriptive Analytics and Prescriptive Analytics.
  • Learn and practice a sound problem-solving process for supply chain problems.
  • Apply spreadsheet engineering principles to model supply chain problems, efficiently incorporating advanced spreadsheet tools and VBA where appropriate.
  • Develop knowledge and practice skills in data acquisition, cleaning, summarizing, and visualizing.
  • Interpret results of analysis, with consideration to assumptions made, data quality, and real-world implications.
• SC 680 - Global Supply Chain Management:
  • Incorporate sustainable practices at all stages of a supply chain.
  • Understand how intricate supply chains have become within and across companies and countries.
  • Consider international business drivers such as political climate, cultural differences, and regulatory requirements when developing supply chain strategies.
  • Track current global events and determine their impact on supply chains.
  • Apply learned concepts and analysis tools when developing supply chain strategies.
• SC 775 - Supply Chain Management Project Experience:
  • To develop skills interacting with clients with real business/organizational needs.
  • To apply BSBA and SCM coursework knowledge to real-world situations.
  • To learn and apply agile project management best practices.
