Faculty Notes
The Faculty of Education at the University of Pretoria is one of the largest and most diverse units in South Africa for the initial and advanced training of education professionals. The faculty trains pre-service teachers, educational psychologists, principals, researchers, and other education professionals.
Admission Requirements
General Admission Regulations
- All applications must be accompanied by certified full academic transcripts, a certified copy of ID or passport, and a research concept note (if applicable).
- Applicants with international qualifications must submit a SAQA evaluation or a comprehensive Foreign Qualification Report, TOEFL or IELTS test results (if applicable), and a certified copy of their passport.
- Postgraduate applications are subject to departmental admissions processes.
- Admissions are based on prior degree content and performance, bridging arrangements (if required), academic merit, and prior work experience (if applicable).
Minimum Admissions Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or a level 6 Diploma in an Educational Field (at least 360 credits).
- Alternatively, a three-year professional qualification and appropriate prior learning deemed adequate by the Advanced Diploma Selection Committee.
- Computer literacy proficiency as determined by a proficiency test or a recognized Information Technology qualification.
- Access to Internet Communications infrastructure is compulsory.
Selection Process
Selection is done after the closing dates, based on capacity and available resources.
Minimum Duration
The minimum duration of the program is 1 year, full-time.
