The Bachelor of Consumer Science specialising in Clothing Retail Management is a vocational programme that combines clothing construction, design, fashion, textiles, consumer behaviour, and retail and merchandising subjects with various marketing and business modules. This programme prepares students for the exciting and ever-changing textile and clothing industry.
Programme Information
Clothing Retail Management balances theory, practical application, and experiential training in the industry. Through the programme, students are exposed to the entire clothing supply chain and can specialise in a particular area of interest once they graduate. Graduates are well-trained and ready to venture into the many different areas offered in the textile and clothing industry.

Faculty Notes
All modules will only be presented in English. The Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences is home to more than 6,500 undergraduate and postgraduate students, presenting degrees in fields ranging from actuaries to zoologists, and consists of 13 departments. All degree programmes are designed to develop problem-solving individuals who can easily adapt to changing circumstances and take the lead in their chosen fields of specialisation.
Admission Requirements
- Minimum requirements:
- Achievement level: English Home Language or English First Additional Language - 5, Mathematics - 4
- APS: 28
- Life Orientation is excluded when calculating the APS.
- Applicants currently in Grade 12 must apply with their final Grade 11 results.
- Applicants who have completed Grade 12 must apply with their final NSC or equivalent qualification results.
- Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee admission.
Minimum Duration
The minimum duration of the programme is 4 years, full-time.
