BCom 4-year Programme

Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences

The Bachelor of Commerce [4-year programme] has lower entrance requirements than other Bachelor of Commerce programmes. It provides students with the opportunity to pursue a career in commerce by following an extended curriculum.


This programme caters for students whose National Senior Certificate (NSC) results do not comply with the minimum admission requirements for their degree of first choice, or those who are uncertain about what to study when enrolling at the University.


Career opportunities are dependent on the Bachelor of Commerce degree that a student continues with.

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum requirements:
    • Achievement level:
      • English Home Language or English First Additional Language: 4
      • Mathematics: 3
      • APS: 26
  • Life Orientation is excluded when calculating the APS.
  • Applicants currently in Grade 12 must apply with their final Grade 11 (or equivalent) results.
  • Applicants who have completed Grade 12 must apply with their final NSC or equivalent qualification results.
  • Meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee admission.

Selection Process

  • Candidates will be ranked considering academic status and school quintile.
