Program Overview

The Program in Biology and Chemistry for High School Students is designed for students in the 1st to 4th grade of high school and vocational schools who want to acquire additional knowledge and get acquainted with scientific research work in the field of natural sciences.


Program Description

The program was established in 2011 by the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGI) in collaboration with the Regional Center for Talents Belgrade 2. The goal is to introduce potential future students of biological, chemical, and related faculties to a modern multidisciplinary approach in this field of research. The program's content is realized throughout the school year.


Program Activities

The activities and content within the program include:


  • Discussion of current topics in natural sciences through lectures at IMGGI and other scientific and cultural institutions
  • Familiarization with modern methodologies used in biology and chemistry through demonstration exercises at IMGGI and during visits to institutes and faculties
  • Mastering academic skills and practical aspects of scientific research (reading and writing abstracts and papers, planning research projects, processing results, presenting papers)
  • Adoption of the scientific method and development of critical thinking by solving research tasks and creating mini-projects through interactive workshops and group work
  • Participation in the organization and realization of scientific-popular manifestations and engagement of participants as demonstrators and volunteers

Admission
