Program Overview
Introduction to the Ecology and Environmental Protection Study Program
The Ecology and Environmental Protection study program is a four-year academic program with 240 ECTS credits, designed to educate and qualify students for professional and scientific work in the field of ecology and environmental protection. This program consists of academic-general education, theoretical-methodological, scientific-professional, and professional-applied subjects that provide the necessary knowledge in biology as a whole, as well as subjects specific to certain areas of biology.
Structure of the Study Program
The Ecology and Environmental Protection study program is a four-year academic program with 240 ECTS credits, aimed at educating and qualifying students for professional and scientific work in the field of biology. Upon completion of the program, students acquire the academic title of Graduate Ecologist and have the knowledge and skills necessary for work in various fields where biological knowledge is applied.
- The program is designed in accordance with the Bologna Principles, with one-semester subjects, relieved and reorganized programs, taking into account the total burden of students during the school year and a 40-hour workweek, expressed through ECTS.
- 1 ECTS credit corresponds to 30 hours of total student activity, including:
- Theoretical teaching: 10 hours of active teaching + 20 hours of independent work
- Practical teaching: 15 hours of active teaching + 15 hours of independent work
- Field teaching: 30 hours of active teaching
- Seminar papers: 1 hour of active teaching + 29 hours of independent work
- The program consists of academic-general education, theoretical-methodological, scientific-professional, and professional-applied subjects that provide the necessary knowledge in biology as a whole, as well as subjects specific to certain areas of biology.
Purpose of the Study Program
The purpose of the Ecology and Environmental Protection study program is to educate competent professionals who, after passing all exams, acquire the professional title of Graduate Ecologist, as predicted by the National Qualifications Framework. Graduates of this study program will possess a set of knowledge, skills, and competencies that make them relevant to the labor market and also enable them to continue their education at master's academic studies or related programs.
Goals of the Study Program
One of the most significant goals of the Ecology and Environmental Protection study program is for students to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired in practice, so that students can effectively perform their jobs. To achieve this, the curriculum of this program is designed to connect natural-mathematical sciences with scientific disciplines in the field of biology, as well as with practical problems in that field.
- The program enables students to acquire knowledge and skills necessary for work in educational institutions, which they can further develop through master's studies.
- Students will acquire knowledge and skills necessary for effective job performance, as well as for further education at master's academic studies.
- The program provides students with the opportunity for immediate employment, as well as for further education.
Competencies of Graduate Students
By mastering the Ecology and Environmental Protection study program, students acquire general abilities, including:
- Collecting, recording, organizing, and analyzing biological and environmental samples using appropriate scientific methodology
- Using suitable laboratory and field equipment, instruments, and devices relevant to the field of work
- Participating in the assessment and monitoring of population, habitat, ecosystem status, as well as their protection
- Realizing activities related to the renewal of populations, habitats, ecosystems
Distribution of Subjects by Semesters and Years of Study
