Program Overview
DU Enseigner en Milieu Plurilingue
The DU Enseigner en Milieu Plurilingue is a unique program in France that aims to train teachers to accompany students in their language learning, particularly in multilingual environments.
Objectives of the Formation
The program has the following objectives:
- Reinforce knowledge of the French language, particularly in oral communication
- Develop a didactic approach to teaching oral language skills in cycle 1
- Foster a reflective posture on one's own language practices in the classroom and their impact on language learning
- Analyze and construct new teaching methodologies
Specificities of the Formation
The program utilizes a pedagogical platform provided by the University of Lille, offering both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities. Each participant is assigned a reference teacher for personalized guidance throughout the program.
Competences Visées
Upon completion, participants will acquire the following competencies:
- Knowledge of theoretical principles and methodological tools for teaching French as a first and second language
- Ability to identify linguistic functioning of French in comparison to other languages
- Skill in constructing sequences for teaching oral language and transitioning from oral to written text production
- Capability to reflect on and modify one's professional practices
Pré-requis
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be professionally active in the education sector
- Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent (bac + 3, level license)
- For professionals with a bac + 2 (DEUG level), it is possible to request validation of professional experience
- Demonstrate a C1 level in French (TCF or DELF/DALF for non-native speakers)
Modalités d'Admission/Conditions d'Accčs
Admission is based on a selection process by the Commission of the FLE mention of the master's program. The application dossier should include a CV, letter of motivation, diplomas, and professional experience justifications.
Programme
The program is organized into three competency blocks:
- Fundamentals in Linguistics and Didactics of French
- Module 1: Linguistics of French (28 hours, 3 ECTS)
- Module 2: Didactics of French L1 and L2 (28 hours, 4 ECTS)
- Specialization in Language Acquisition
- Module 3: Language Acquisition in Cycle 1 (24 hours, 4 ECTS)
- Module 4: From Oral to Written (24 hours, 3 ECTS)
- Professionalization - Analysis of Professional Practices
- Module 5: Formalization of Professional Practices through an e-portfolio (2 hours presentation + 30 hours self-study, 6 ECTS)

- Dates: To be determined based on a minimum number of registrations
- Duration: 106 hours of courses + 32 hours of personal work + 30 hours for preparing an e-portfolio
- Fees: 1,700
- Location: The program is entirely online from September to May
Organisme Partenaire
The program is in partnership with Mission laďque française (Mlf Monde), which operates a network of French educational institutions abroad. The Mlf will support the program by providing pedagogical coordination and local intervention for teachers in training.
