University Programs
The university offers various programs for international students and researchers. These programs aim to provide opportunities for students and researchers to gain experience and expand their networks in different environments.
Mobility Support
Mobility support allows Estonian and foreign researchers to conduct research in a new environment, expanding their experiences and cooperation networks. This support enables researchers to work in top research groups regardless of their country of origin.
International Scholarship Programs
Various countries offer scholarships and support under international scholarship programs. It is possible to apply for scholarships for degree and non-degree studies, summer courses (including language courses), and further training. These scholarship offers are intended for Estonian citizens or individuals with long-term residence permits in Estonia.
State Scholarships for Foreign Citizens
International agreements provide opportunities for foreign researchers and teachers to apply for support to conduct research at the University of Tartu. This includes:
- Short-term travel grants - up to 9 days (45 euros per day)
- Long-term travel grants - 10 days to 10 months (660 euros per month)
Kristjan Jaagu Foreign Study Scholarship
The Kristjan Jaagu foreign study scholarship supports short-term foreign study-related trips for Estonian university students and young researchers. Examples of supported activities include:
- Participating in conferences
- Working in libraries
- Using laboratories
- Developing own lectures
- Participating in further training courses
- Consulting
- Attending summer schools This scholarship supports foreign stays of up to 30 days.
Estonian Science Agency Mobility Support
Mobility support allows Estonian and foreign researchers to conduct research in a new environment, expanding their experiences and cooperation networks. This support enables researchers to work in top research groups regardless of their country of origin.
Estonian Academy of Sciences Scholar Exchange
The Estonian Academy of Sciences supports the international mobility of researchers. The academy and its foreign partners have signed bilateral cooperation agreements, one of the practical outcomes of which is the academic scholar exchange, in which all Estonian researchers can participate. The Estonian Academy of Sciences' budget funds the reception costs of guest researchers in Estonia, while the costs of our researchers abroad are covered by the Estonian Academy of Sciences' partner in the target country.
