Introduction to the 21st Estonian Summer School on Computer and Systems Science
The Estonian Summer School in Computer and Systems Science is an annual international event for PhD and MSc students, postdocs, and faculty members. This school promotes the interdisciplinary education of graduate students specialising in computer science, systems science, software engineering, artificial intelligence, and bioinformatics.

Academic Lectures
The following academic lectures are scheduled:
- Veli Mäkinen: Foundations of compressed text indexing; Alignments on pangenome representations
- Indre Zliobaite: Evaluation of machine-learned models
- Dhruv Shah: Large-Scale Machine Learning for Robotics
- Marlon Dumas: How to write a research paper?
- Tanel Alumäe: Foundation models in speech recognition
- Pawel Sobocinski: Mathematical concepts for safe AI: probabilistic reasoning with string diagrams
- Poster Session and flash talks
Student Sessions
There are "Student talks and Poster session" planned, aiming to get students actively involved in shaping the summer school. These sessions allow students to improve their skills in presenting their topic, managing daily tasks more effectively, and sharing essential information.
Social Activities
Social activities are organised to stimulate mingling, getting to know each other, and exchanging ideas.
