University of Tartu Programs
The University of Tartu offers a wide range of programs across various faculties, including the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Science and Technology.
Faculty of Arts and Humanities
- The Faculty of Arts and Humanities includes several institutes, such as the Institute of History and Archaeology, Institute of Estonian and General Linguistics, Institute of Philosophy and Semiotics, and Institute of Cultural Research.
- The School of Theology and Religious Studies and the Institute of Foreign Languages and Cultures are also part of this faculty.

Faculty of Social Sciences

Doctoral Studies in Medicine and Sport
The Doctoral Programme in Medicine and Sport is a part of the Faculty of Medicine, combining four specialities coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine and the Institute of Sport Sciences and Physiotherapy.
- The overall objective of the PhD specialities is to take the knowledge and skills of the student to the level of internationally recognized high-rank scientific professionals.
- PhD students are prepared for employment as a lecturer and researcher at the university and other research institutions, as well as leading specialists outside the academia.
Faculty of Science and Technology
- The Faculty of Science and Technology includes the Institute of Computer Science, Estonian Marine Institute, Institute of Physics, Institute of Chemistry, Institute of Mathematics and Statistics, and Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology.
- The Tartu Observatory, Institute of Technology, Institute of Ecology and Earth Sciences, Institute of Bioengineering, and Institute of Genomics are also part of this faculty.
Research and Studies
- The University of Tartu is Estonia's leading research and development institution, with more than 1400 Doctoral students conducting research at the university each year.
- The Centre for Doctoral Studies ensures the conduct of doctoral studies in the faculty in compliance with the regulations in force, as well as a smooth exchange of information and counselling of doctoral students and supervisors on the organisation of doctoral studies, funding, selection of courses, and training opportunities.
Organisation of Doctoral Studies
The University of Tartu's doctoral studies are organised by the Regulations for Doctoral Studies (RDS) at the University of Tartu.

Doctoral School of Clinical Medicine
- The Doctoral School of Clinical Medicine offers activities, contacts, and more information for doctoral students.
- The doctoral studies council is headed by Professor Maris Laan, Vice Dean for Research at the Faculty of Medicine, and includes members from various departments and student representatives.
