Program Overview

The University of Tartu offers a master's program in "Teacher of Estonian as a Second Language in a Multilingual School." This program is designed for individuals who wish to teach Estonian as a second language in a multilingual school setting.

Program Description

The program focuses on general pedagogical and psychological subjects, didactics, and special methodology, as well as practice, which are closely interrelated. The program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach Estonian as a second language in a multilingual school.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent and have completed at least 24 EAPs of general linguistics subjects in Estonian. Applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in Estonian at the B2 level.

Admission Procedure

The admission procedure consists of two parts: a subject examination and an interview. The subject examination assesses the applicant's knowledge of Estonian language and literature, as well as their pedagogical skills. The interview evaluates the applicant's motivation for studying, their understanding of the program, and their language skills.

Program Structure

The program is a two-year, 120 EAP master's program that takes place in Narva. The program includes courses in pedagogy, psychology, didactics, and special methodology, as well as practice. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs and study abroad.

Tuition Fee

The program is free of charge for students who are admitted to the program.

Scholarship

Students who are admitted to the program may be eligible for a scholarship of up to 400 euros per month.
