Introduction to R (RStudio) Programming
The Introduction to R (RStudio) Programming course is an online program produced by the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science, which is part of the School of Science and Engineering.
Course Overview
This course is designed to introduce participants to the basics of R programming and data visualization. R is a statistical software and programming language that allows users to perform statistical analysis, create functions, and visualize data. The course will cover the basics of R programming and data visualization over a period of four weeks.
Course Structure
- The course will start on Monday, 1 June 2026, and will run for four weeks on a part-time basis.
- The course will be delivered online and will consist of a combination of tutor-led sessions and online exercises.
- Week one will focus on the basics of R programming and will include a welcome session and three tutor-led sessions.
- Week two will explore data visualization and will include three tutor-led sessions.
- There will be two additional one-hour drop-in sessions.
- The final assessment will be an online exercise that will be submitted in week four.

Target Audience

Assessment
The final assessment will be an online exercise that will be written in R Script and will cover the basics and data visualization.
