Introduction to the Sustainability and Water Security MSc

The Sustainability and Water Security MSc is a postgraduate program offered by the University of Dundee, specifically through the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law & Policy (CEPMLP). This program is designed to explore the governance, economic, social, and environmental challenges arising from the demands on water resources.

Program Overview

The course is taught in close cooperation with the University's world-leading Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science, a UNESCO category 2 Water Centre. It aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the issues related to sustainability and water security, enabling them to apply knowledge and management practices from other countries to their own.

Key Features of the Program

  • The module on sustainability presents the current situation and international law, allowing students to apply this knowledge to their home countries.
  • The program includes both seminar and lecture classes, which encourage students to discuss and exchange experiences.
  • Teachers are kind and helpful, providing support throughout the program.

University and Campus Life

The University of Dundee offers a range of facilities and services that support student life, including:

  • Modern libraries with efficient management, ensuring a safe and productive study environment.
  • IT support for all students.
  • Sports facilities and a health care center.
  • Student societies, such as Dusa, Friend International, and the Christian Union, which provide opportunities for socialization and community engagement.

Location

The city of Dundee is described as a silent city, suitable for study, with a pleasant environment, fresh air, and friendly people. It is not too big, allowing for easy navigation by walking and cycling.

Student Experience

International students, like Araya Yotmongkol from Thailand, find the program and the university supportive, especially with pre-sessional and in-sessional courses designed to improve English skills. The program prepares students to work in their home countries, applying the knowledge and skills gained to improve water management and sustainability.
