What You Will Learn
In this module, you will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of Art and Design ideas, which will underpin your studio practice. The module includes a lecture series presented by different speakers every Thursday throughout the academic year, covering various areas in the study of art and design.

- Artist's and designer's presentations aligned to potential careers and opportunities
- Topics related to semester 1 modules, such as:
- DJ11001 Ways of Drawing
- DJ11002 Thinking through Making
- DJ11003 Connecting Colour & Symbol
- Subject specialism presentations within DJCAD
- Art and design history from an inclusive perspective
- Essay and reflective writing
- Library and research skills
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module, you will:
- Be introduced to an array of art and design practices and learn to analyze, evaluate, and reflect upon them in an informed way
- Find out about the disciplines within DJCAD to make an informed choice for eventual subject specialism
- Be able to write an academic essay at university level
- Consolidate an ongoing personal practice by combining visual research and information gathering, writing, and reflection
