Program Overview

Introduction to the Childhood Practice BA Program

The Childhood Practice BA program is offered by the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law at the University of Dundee. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of childhood practice, including the theoretical and practical aspects of working with children.

Teaching and Assessment

The program uses a range of teaching approaches, including:

  • Online study materials
  • Discussion forums
  • Webinars
  • Email communications The majority of resources are available online, reducing the need for students to purchase or borrow a large number of books. Each student is assigned a personal Advisor of Studies to support them throughout their studies.

Assessment Methods

Students may be assessed in the following ways:

  • Reflective and critical essays
  • Case studies and scenarios
  • Audits of practice
  • Poster presentations There is one main assessment per module in the form of a written assignment. Students are also required to provide evidence of work-based learning. Regular skills sessions, individual feedback, and support from tutors, as well as access to the Academic Skills Centre, are provided to help students develop their academic writing skills.

Support Services

Students are assigned an Adviser of Studies to help support them through their studies. Additional support is available from the University of Dundee Support Services and fellow students via online discussion forums and social media.
