What You Will Learn

In this module, students will:

• Develop further understanding of the conceptual design process
• Learn about different structural systems
• Understand the different loads acting on a structure and how these can be used in calculations
• Learn about load paths and how these can be determined
• Learn about deflection and vibration and how these can be limited
• Develop an understanding of structural design using Eurocodes 2 and 3
• Understand limit states
• Discover why structural optimisation is sustainable
• Gain further skills in creating 3D digital models of structures

By the end of this module, students will be able to:

• Apply conceptual design processes
• Calculate load paths through a structure
• Conduct deflection and vibration checks on structural designs
• Use software to conduct structural analysis on a 3D structural model
