Program Overview


Geography and History MA (Hons) Program

The Geography and History MA (Hons) program is offered by the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law at the University of Dundee.


Overview

Studies by the Royal Geographical Society show that Geography degrees are an excellent basis for developing the transferable skills and knowledge that many employers value. Students will be skilled in communication, problem solving, analysis, and interpretation. The History course is designed to produce confident, intellectually engaged graduates, who can think creatively and independently, ask incisive questions, articulate their ideas, and solve complex problems.

Careers Service

The Careers Service provides students with far more than CV advice. From 30-hour micro-placements as part of modules, to gaining academic credit for improving employability skills, the service prepares students for their future career throughout their time at Dundee. Students will benefit from:


  • Seven recruitment fairs on City campus each year, featuring around 250 local, national, and global employers.
    • This includes the Go Global fair to help secure a summer placement abroad.
  • Around 8,000 vacancies a year featured on the Jobshop website, for part-time work, graduate roles, internships, and voluntary jobs.
  • A dedicated careers adviser, specialising in the subject, who can provide one-to-one guidance, application support, and personalised practice interview support.
