Module Description

This module emphasizes the combined relationship of studio practice and research. Students work in a vibrant environment that encourages experimentation and risk-taking, applying new skills and critically reflecting on their work within the contexts of contemporary and historic art practices.

In this module, students will:


  • Develop an ideas-based approach to current contemporary practice
  • Examine the relationship between art conventions and innovative aesthetic strategies, considering interdisciplinary, technical, and digital perspectives
  • Focus on the processes of art production and its creative outcomes through studio presentation and a supporting research journal
  • Participate in study trips to related exhibitions, museums, galleries, or film screenings
  • Acquire new technical, digital, and practical skills through workshop inductions and projects
