What You Will Learn
In this module, you will:
- develop an understanding of the curriculum at all stages within the relevant sector and your role in meeting the needs of all learners
- develop a deepening understanding of the role of the teacher, the life of the school, and the opportunities to help learners to develop
- access curricular information and draw from appropriate educational literature and policy to inform and sustain your teaching in the relevant stages
- critically reflect on your practice in order to evaluate your effectiveness and take responsibility for your continuing professional development
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- demonstrate your progress towards the GTCS Standard for Provisional Registration (SPR) to a satisfactory standard for your current stage of development
Assignments / Assessment
You will be assessed summatively by both a university tutor and the school with an overall grade of satisfactory or unsatisfactory against the areas of the Standards for Provisional Registration (SPR) (100%).
Teaching Methods / Timetable
You will learn through focused teaching, tutorials, and your Professional Practice Placement.
- Tutorials: take place across the year with your professional practice tutor in small student groups
- Professional Practice Placement: 6-week school placement (Professional Practice 2)
- Placement Briefing: you will be briefed about placement requirements and expectations
- Recall Day: you will return to university for a Recall Day during placement to have an opportunity to reflect on your practice and meet with your tutor
