Program Overview

The Master's Degree in Primary Education Sciences is a five-year, single-cycle program that aims to provide students with a solid foundation in the various disciplinary areas of teaching and the ability to propose them in the most appropriate way to the school level, age, and culture of the students they will encounter.


Objectives

The program's objectives are to:


  • Possess disciplinary knowledge related to the subjects taught (linguistic-literary, mathematical, physical and natural sciences, historical and geographical, artistic, musical, and motor skills)
  • Be able to articulate the contents of the disciplines according to the different school levels and the age of the children, with particular reference to the National Indications of 2012 and subsequent integrations of 2018
  • Possess pedagogical-didactic skills to manage the progression of learning, adapting times and methods to the level of different students
  • Be able to choose and use the most suitable tools for the planned path (frontal lesson, discussion, simulation, cooperation, peer tutoring, group work, new technologies)
  • Possess relational and managerial skills to make class work fruitful for each child, facilitating the coexistence of different cultures and religions, knowing how to build common rules of life regarding discipline, sense of responsibility, solidarity, and sense of justice
  • Be able to participate actively in the management of the class and teaching, collaborating with colleagues in both didactic planning and internal and external collegiate activities, also in relation to the needs of the territory in which the school operates

Program Structure

The program includes a compulsory internship and supervision by a tutor organizer/coordinator who, at the end of the training course, attests to the possession by the graduate of the organizational and didactic skills acquired in the field experience. The internship activities last for a total of 600 hours, equivalent to 24 CFU, and are organized and managed by a team composed of tutor organizers, in concert with the tutor coordinators.


Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the program, students must:


  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass an admission test, which consists of 80 multiple-choice questions on linguistic competence, logical reasoning, literary, historical-social and geographical culture, and mathematical-scientific culture
  • Meet the minimum requirements specified in the program's regulations

Additional Information

The program is subject to national programming, and the number of available places is determined annually by the Ministry of University and Research. Students who graduate from the program will be able to work in public and private schools, as well as in other educational institutions.
