The Fortbildning till officiell assistent Uppdrag f—r Livsmedelsverket 2018 is a professional development program for employees at slaughterhouses to become official assistants. The program is offered by the Institutionen f—r tillðmpad husdjursvetenskap och vðlfðrd, Institutionen f—r biomedicin och veterinðr folkhðlsovetenskap, and SLU.

Program Structure

The program consists of five theoretical periods at SLU, alternating with four practical periods at a slaughterhouse. The program uses a blended learning approach, with a combination of distance learning and on-site instruction at SLU. A digital course platform provides a centralized access point for all course materials.

Program Details

• The program has a scope of 20 hp and is offered at a basic level.
• The program is full-time and has a limited number of places available, with a maximum of 15 participants.
• The program is designed to provide training for official assistants who will perform controls at slaughterhouses and animal handling facilities, in accordance with the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2017/625 on official controls.

Responsibilities and Roles

• Official veterinarians and official assistants from the Livsmedelsverket perform controls at slaughterhouses and animal handling facilities.
• The program is responsible for the distance pedagogical setup of the entire education, teaching in sub-courses, and supervision of participants.

• The program is designed to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties as official assistants.
