Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Animal Science program, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • Basic Eligibility: A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) of at least 180 credits or a foreign degree equivalent to this.
  • Special Eligibility: 90 credits in one of the following subjects/educational areas:
    • Biology
    • Animal Science
    • Agricultural Science, with at least 30 credits in Animal Science/Zoology
    • Equine Science
    • Animal Care
    • Veterinary Medicine
  • English Language Proficiency: Equivalent to English 6 from Swedish upper secondary school. This requirement is met by those with a bachelor's degree from a Swedish university.

Program Content

The program provides a scientific foundation that enables students to identify, analyze, and solve problems while considering the needs of animals and society. Students can specialize in one of three areas: ethology-animal welfare-animal protection, genetics-breeding, or nutrition-feeding. The program concludes with a 30-credit master's thesis.
