Program Overview

The Landskapsarkitekt program at Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet (SLU) is a five-year program that combines design, ecology, and urban planning to create sustainable living environments.


Program Description

The program aims to provide students with a broad knowledge and ability to communicate, formulate solutions, and understand the context of landscape architecture. Students will learn about landscape planning, design, and management, as well as ecology, botany, and horticulture.


Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the program, students must meet the following requirements:


  • Matematik 3b or 3c or Matematik C
  • Naturkunskap 2 (can be replaced with Biologi 1, Kemi 1, and Fysik 1a or Fysik 1b1 + 1b2)
  • Samhällskunskap 1b or 1a1 + 1a2 Alternatively, students can meet the requirements with:
  • Matematik fortsättning nivĺ 1b or nivĺ 1c
  • Naturkunskap nivĺ 2 (can be replaced with Biologi nivĺ 1, Kemi nivĺ 1, and Fysik nivĺ 1a1 + 1a2 or Fysik nivĺ 1b)
  • Samhällskunskap nivĺ 1b or nivĺ 1a1 + 1a2

Program Structure

The program consists of 300 higher education credits, with the following structure:


  • 180 higher education credits of compulsory program courses
  • 75 higher education credits of elective program courses
  • 15 higher education credits of independent work in landscape architecture (bachelor's thesis)
  • 30 higher education credits of independent work (master's thesis)
