Program Information

The Skogligt bas緳 (Forestry Foundation Year) is a one-year program offered by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in collaboration with Uppsala Vocational College J鄟la, Stora Segerstads Nature Resource Centre in Reftele, and Torsta AB in 彎. The program provides students with the necessary qualifications to pursue a degree in forestry.

Program Description

The Skogligt bas緳 is designed for individuals who have not attended a natural resource management program at the upper secondary school level. The program consists of a combination of theoretical and practical training, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of forestry management and conservation. The curriculum covers topics such as forest ecology, silviculture, and forest operations.

Program Structure

The program is divided into two main components: theoretical studies and practical training. The theoretical studies component includes courses in forest management, silviculture, and forest ecology, among others. The practical training component provides students with hands-on experience in forestry operations, including tree planting, forest thinning, and timber harvesting.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the Skogligt bas緳, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Basic eligibility for higher education
• Special eligibility requirements:
  • Mathematics 2a, 2b, or 2c
  • Natural Science 2
  • Social Science 1b or 1a1
• Alternatively, applicants may meet the special eligibility requirements through equivalent courses or certifications.
