Program Overview
The Human Development and Family Sciences (B.S./J.D.) program is a six-year accelerated course of study that leads to both the B.A. or B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences and J.D. degrees.
Eligibility and Admission Criteria
To be eligible for the program, students must:
- Identify themselves as early as possible to the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS) as an HDFS major who wishes to complete the accelerated program
- Have completed at least 90 credit hours of undergraduate course work (including all general education and major requirements) with a minimum GPA of 3.25
- Take the LSAT and score at or above the median LSAT score for the previous year's entering class at the College of Law
Program Requirements
Students must complete all the requirements for the HDFS B.S. degree as well as all general education requirements by the end of their junior year. ĀUp to 30 hours of law courses will count toward the final 30 credits of their undergraduate degree. ĀThe final two years of the program will follow the standard College of Law timetable.
Program Structure
The program is structured as follows:
- The first three years will be spent completing undergraduate course work
- The final three years will be spent in the College of Law, with up to 30 hours of law courses counting toward the undergraduate degree
- Students will matriculate in the College of Law in the fall of their senior year, pursuant to the special provisions of this program.
