Program Overview
The Philosophy (B.A. or B.S./J.D.) program is a six-year accelerated course of study that leads to both the B.A. or B.S. in Philosophy and J.D. degrees.
Eligibility and Admission Criteria
To be eligible for the program, students must:
- Identify themselves as early as possible to the Department of Philosophy as a major wishing to complete the accelerated program.
- Have completed at least 90 credit hours of undergraduate coursework, including all general education and major requirements, as well as the requirements for a B.A. or B.S. degree, with the exception of the senior capstone requirement in philosophy.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.25.
- Take the LSAT and score at or above the median LSAT score for the previous year's entering class at the College of Law.
Program Structure
- The program allows students to start taking law classes at the beginning of their fourth year, upon acceptance into the College of Law.
- Apart from the completion of the senior capstone in philosophy, if needed, the remainder of the program follows the standard College of Law curriculum.
- Up to the first 30 credit hours of law courses will be counted toward the bachelor's degree.
- If the senior capstone requirement in philosophy has not been completed at the time of enrollment in the College of Law, it must be completed no later than the end of the fourth year.
