The Student Wellness Center (SWC) is a division of Student Affairs at San Josť State University. The center offers various services and programs to promote student well-being, including health services, counseling, and wellness education.
Cooking Healthy, Eating Well (CHEW)
The CHEW program is a hands-on cooking workshop where students can gain confidence and skills in cooking healthy meals. The program emphasizes nutritious and culturally diverse recipes, making cooking approachable and fun for all. Students who have taken the CHEW classes have reported increased nutrition and cooking knowledge, more confidence in cooking, and a higher intake of fruits and vegetables.
CHEW Cooking Classes
The CHEW cooking classes are held in SWC Room 122 on select Tuesdays from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. The classes are designed to teach students how to prepare quick and easy meals using seasonal, low-cost ingredients.

The Spring 2026 Nutrition Education Workshops will be held in SWC Room 122 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. on the following dates:

The Student Wellness Center is open during the Fall and Spring semesters from:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
