Program Overview
Lucas Graduate School of Business
The Lucas Graduate School of Business offers various programs for prospective students.
MBA Program
The MBA program is open to students from all disciplines. There are two prerequisite courses required: macroeconomics or microeconomics and statistics, completed with a minimum grade of B and 3.0 units or higher.
Admission Criteria
- A preferred GPA of 3.0 or above is competitive for admission to MBA programs.
- An absolute minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for graduate admission at SJSU.
- The GMAT and GRE are optional, but applicants with a GPA below 3.0 are strongly encouraged to take the GMAT or GRE to demonstrate their readiness for graduate work.
- Scores at the 50th percentile in both the quantitative and verbal sections of the exam are considered competitive.
Program Details
- The Lucas Graduate School staff is happy to review a student's resume and help them select the right MBA program.
- The MBA program has different tracks, including the Early Career MBA and the MBA for Professionals.
- Once admitted to the Early Career MBA, students will be sent a form to select the track they intend to follow.
Graduate Business Professional Fee
- The Graduate Business Professional Fee was implemented by the California State University Board of Trustees on May 13, 2009.
- The fee is $303 per unit (which equals a semester hour) in addition to the current registration fees.
- The fee applies to all students, including international, in-state, and out-of-state residents.
- The revenues generated from this fee will be used to maintain AACSB accreditation, attract and retain tenure-track faculty members, support diversity recruitment, provide financial assistance to eligible students, and offer graduate assistantships.
Financial Aid and Scholarships
- Students can apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- The Financial Aid Office will determine eligibility for each student, taking into account the professional fee increase.
- Eligible students can apply for the State University Grant, Stafford Student Loans, and other scholarships.
- Between 25-33 percent of the fee revenue will be set aside for financial aid.
- Fee deferrals are available for students who have completed the financial aid application process.
