Program Overview
Bioinformatics is at the heart of modern molecular biosciences and is becoming more important as a tool for interpreting molecular data and understanding how life works at the molecular level. Our online short course, Protein Bioinformatics, will introduce you to a range of techniques used to analyse protein sequences and structures, and will explain how these techniques are used in drug discovery, particularly in conjunction with structural biology.
If you already have a general scientific training, this short course will enable you to understand:
This postgraduate-level course is suitable for anyone wanting to understand bioinformatics, learn some basic tools and read publications in this area, for example medicinal chemists, pharmacologists, biochemists, neuroscientists, molecular biologists and cell biologists, and for those aspiring to work in structural biology, bioinformatics or drug development.
The course features a live online tutorial for each section. It is assessed by a 1.5-hour examination (66%) and regular coursework (34%).
