About Program

Program Overview

Students must complete 26 days of scheduled learning, teaching and assessment using blended learning (face to face contact and VLE / e-learning approaches), and 12 days equivalent (90 hours) of learning in the student’s future clinical practice area as a prescriber. As an AHP Independent/Supplementary prescriber student, you are encouraged to integrate your existing and developing professional knowledge within your current clinical practice environment.

Graduate destinations

The programme to prepare to prescribe as an AHP Independent/Supplementary Prescriber is offered as stand-alone module but may also be used to contribute to an undergraduate or postgraduate award. For example, students could combine successful completion of the University Award Independent/Supplementary Prescribing for AHPs with other modules towards a full degree (120 credits), for example the BSc (Hons) Practice Development or BSc (Hons) Community Specialist Practitioner District Nursing.
