Florida International University is a public research university situated in Miami, Florida. Established in 1965, it is one of the largest universities in Florida and offers over 190 degree programs in a vast range of fields.

Florida International University contains multiple libraries, including the Hubert Library on the BBC campus and the Green Library on the MMC campus. Both libraries house a sizable collection of books and journals for students to peruse, in addition to computer labs, study areas and more. Both campuses also have a Wellness and Recreation center for students to participate in group exercise classes and use the fitness equipment.
Various research centers and institutes can be found across the campus, too as the university is famed for its capacity to facilitate research in several areas. Notably, the Stocker AstroScience Center has a 24-inch telescope. Computing and technology resources are surplus, with online learning platforms and technical support services provided to empower students in their studies.
Campus Life
Student life is only complete when you get involved with the student union. The two student unions are named the Wolfe University Center on the BBC campus and The Graham Center on the MMC campus. Both offer a range of resources, including meeting rooms, dining options and event spaces. Students can go green on a 3-mile running nature trail, relax in the butterfly gardens or have some fun competing in the Walk On Water race. These are just some examples of the events students can attend on campus, not to mention the 300+ organizations dotted around campus, from cultural clubs and honors societies and beyond.
Accommodation
Florida International University on-campus housing varies in cost according to the type of accommodation chosen. The dormitories are designed to provide students with a secure living space as each room is fully furnished with a desk, bed, dressing room tables etc. Residential facilities are separated into the MMC (Modesto A. Maidique Campus) and the BBC (Biscayne Bay Campus). The MMC houses seven residential halls, while the BBC has four residence halls.
On-campus apartments incorporate Parkview Hall and University Apartments and feature a kitchenette, living room and two or four private bedrooms. Suite-style apartments offer additional privacy if desired.
Employability
Graduates from Florida International University are well-prepared to enter the professional arena upon graduation. The skills needed to succeed professionally are embedded into the programs and resources provided by the university, with the career services center an excellent resource for students to utilize. Career fairs are regularly hosted and help is given for CV writing, cover letter help, job hunting, and internships. Counseling and professional development are also a part of the comprehensive service.
FIU has various partnerships with businesses and non-profit organizations so students can participate in community service activities, internships and more.

Miami is a sought-after location due to its reputation for having the best beaches, the most scenic views and a plethora of fun activities. Colloquially known as the ‘sunshine state’, Miami has plenty of free, student-friendly activities throughout the year. Get acquainted with Miami’s Cuban culture in the Little Havana neighborhood, enjoy free film screenings at the New World Center or participate in yoga classes at Bayfront park. South Beach is perhaps one of the most famous locations in the world, where you can sample the fantastic nightlife, dining options and views of Ocean Drive’s Atlantic coastline.
