Services

Student services

As of July 1, 2018 the International House is composed of three departments:

The newly restructured Office of International Student Life (ISL) will serve all international student related immigration and cultural adjustment needs including new student orientations, work authorizations, travel signatures, and non-resident alien tax help.

The newly created Office of Faculty and Scholar Services will work in collaboration with the Provost's Office to serve the international faculty and scholars with immigration paperwork and adjustment to Worcester questions.

The English as a Second Language Program will continue to serve the needs of graduate students seeking help with English language skills.

Housing services

While our residence halls each have a different personality, they do share some features:

  • Fully furnished rooms (bed, desk, desk chair, dresser, and closet) with connections for high-speed data network services. Students receive complimentary access to streaming television and movie services and an option for phone service via IT Services.
  • A resident advisor (RA) for each floor, trained to help students. They answer questions about WPI policies, complete work order requests, and offer support for emotional issues that invariably come up, such as homesickness, roommate conflicts, or stress.

Library services

The George C. Gordon Library enriches WPI and the global community, inspiring and supporting research exploration and discovery, through the expertise of our staff, by providing relevant and specialized resources, user-centered spaces, and innovative services and tools that anticipate and respond to WPI’s changing information needs.

ICT services

IT Service enables the effective use of technology for teaching, learning, research, and the administrative work of the University by providing technology and mobility solutions, support, IT content and communications.

Medical services

The Office of Health Services provides accessible, comprehensive, quality healthcare (including referral services) for all WPI students.

From diagnosing illnesses and designing effective treatments to physical therapy and wellness support and counseling, the Office of Health Services works to create a healthy and thriving campus community, with a goal of preventative care and long-term well-being.

Student Life

Campus life

WPI's 95-acre campus sits high on a hill in historic Worcester, Massachusetts. This convenient central location puts students close to all the best the city has to offer, including the Worcester Art Museum, the EcoTarium, and the world-renowned American Antiquarian Society.

Sports facilities

The WPI physical education, recreation & athletics facilities are divided among three main venues: Alumni Gymnasium (Fitness Center, Pool, and Bowling Alley), Harrington Auditorium and the outdoor facilities.  All facilities are open to the WPI community during posted hours when there are no events scheduled.

Student clubs

The Student Activities Office (SAO) strives to create and maintain a vibrant campus community made up of an extensive variety of student organizations, leadership programs, and community service opportunities.

WPI offers over 225 different clubs and organizations, and the SAO is in charge of overseeing each one to ensure that it runs to the best of its ability. The SAO is also responsible for coordinating campus activities such as visiting shows and comedians, as well as helping students to create their own university-recognized club or organization. Staff members offer a wide range of resources to ensure that students and their clubs succeed, and are available to offer help or guidance every step of the way.

Accreditation

WPI is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), a nongovernmental, nationally recognized organization whose affiliated institutions include degree-granting colleges and universities in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont and internationally.
